We the People demand that the men and women who write our laws, interpret our Constitution, and hold the highest positions of power in the federal government owe one undivided allegiance: to the United States of America.

The Constitution already requires the President to be a natural-born citizen. That same standard should apply to Members of Congress, federal judges, and Senate-confirmed federal officers. These officials make decisions affecting our borders, national security, foreign policy, constitutional rights, and sovereignty. The American people have every right to demand that their loyalty to this country be beyond question.

Rep. Nancy Mace has introduced H.J.Res.188, a proposed constitutional amendment requiring Representatives, Senators, federal judges, and Senate-confirmed officers to be natural-born citizens of the United States.

This is not radical. It is common sense.

We have watched lawmakers place foreign interests, open borders, and international agendas ahead of the security and sovereignty of the American people. No person entrusted with the power to write our laws, interpret our Constitution, or direct the federal government should have divided national loyalties.

This amendment does not attack legal immigrants or diminish their contributions to America. It establishes a higher constitutional standard for the relatively small number of people entrusted with the most powerful offices in our federal government.

We call on every Member of Congress to cosponsor H.J.Res.188.

We call on the House Judiciary Committee to advance it.

We call on the states to ratify it.

And we call on the American people to stand behind one simple principle: Those entrusted with governing the United States at the highest level should be natural-born Americans.
