Madison County Daycare Abuse Case (2025)
Initial Arrest (April 8, 2025):

Elizabeth Thomas (25), daycare worker at A Step Ahead Daycare in Richmond, arrested.
Allegations:

Grabbed children by arms and pulled them.
Denied food to a child with dietary restrictions.
Threw a child into a cot and held him down for refusing a nap.
She admitted to losing her temper and was booked into Madison County Detention Center.
Follow-up Indictments (Sept 26, 2025):

Elizabeth Thomas: indicted on 1 count of 4th-degree assault + 10 counts of 1st-degree criminal abuse.
Brooklyn Houk (daughter of daycare owner): indicted on obstruction, failure to report abuse, and 1st-degree strangulation (covered 4-year-old’s mouth, restricting ability to breathe).
Khrystian Greer: indicted on 1st-degree criminal abuse and 1st-degree strangulation.
Allegations included conspiracy to falsify reports during an investigation where a child was left unsupervised.

⚖️ Why this case matters to Jayden’s Law:

Shows gaps in oversight for daycare-related abuse (multiple staff indicted for abuse, cover-ups, and obstruction).
Highlights systemic failure to report — Jayden’s Law provisions about failure to protect and mandatory reporting align directly here.
Demonstrates need for permanent bans on custody/childcare access for convicted abusers, not just parents but also daycare workers.
