Why This Case Matters for Jayden’s Law
Child Victim Protection Gap: 13-year-old Kennedi McWhorter was murdered, yet under current Kentucky law (Kimber’s Law), enhanced capital sentencing aggravators only apply to children under 12.
Jayden’s Law Fix: Expands protections to all children under 18, ensuring cases like Kennedi’s carry maximum accountability for offenders.
Family Custody Implications: If the person of interest is a family member, Jayden’s Law would ensure automatic and permanent termination of custody/visitation rights across all children involved.
