Pass Christian's Law: Protect Oklahoma families and strengthen reckless driving laws
The Issue

Why This Is Personal to Our Family
On June 6, 2025, our lives changed forever.
At 12:37 p.m., our family received the phone call every parent fears. Our 23-year-old son, Christian David Root, had been involved in a crash. We rushed to the hospital praying with everything we had that he would survive. Instead, we were told our son was gone.
Christian wasn't just our son. He was the youngest of our six boys, the baby of our family, a loving brother, a proud uncle, a loyal friend, and the kind of young man who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He had dreams of getting married, raising a family, and building a future. Those dreams ended that afternoon.
As our family searched for answers, we learned information that made our heartbreak even greater. According to the information we have received, the driver who struck Christian was traveling approximately 90 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone. We also learned of a pattern of dangerous driving that included a reckless driving citation, multiple prior crashes—including one just two days before Christian was killed—and another crash after Christian's death.
Learning these facts forced our family to ask one heartbreaking question:
How many warning signs should there be before a preventable tragedy takes someone's life?
We cannot bring Christian back. Nothing will ever fill the empty chair at our table or heal the hole in our hearts.
What we can do is fight for change.
Our family believes Christian's life was worth more than a misdemeanor. His life mattered. He was someone's son, brother, uncle, grandson, friend, and he deserved the opportunity to live the future that was taken from him.
That is why we are fighting for Christian's Law.
Christian's Law is about protecting innocent families, strengthening accountability, and helping prevent another family from receiving the same phone call that changed our lives forever.
We never imagined we would become advocates. We wanted to watch Christian grow older. We wanted to watch him get married, become a father, and live the life he deserved.
Since we can't give Christian those years, we will spend ours fighting so that his legacy saves lives.
Our son's life was worth more than a misdemeanor.
His story deserves to be heard.
His legacy deserves to save lives.
Please stand with our family. Please sign this petition. Please share Christian's story. Together, we can turn unimaginable loss into lasting change.
Because one life lost is one too many.
