3,996 human trafficking incidents were reported to Police Services in Canada between 2012-2022. In 2022, 94% of police-reported human trafficking victims were women and girls.

Our school is aware of MP Peter Julian's support for Bill C-273, which aims to protect children from abuse. Bill S-263 will implement a uniform strategy to combat human trafficking across Canada. Currently, there is no federal legislation in place to combat human trafficking, leaving each Province to navigate the matter without the coordination and guidance of a national plan. We would greatly appreciate it if MP Peter Julian voiced support for Bill S-263.

 For Canadian citizens, the passing of this bill will help combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable populations. Canada is responsible for ensuring that all individuals have the same safety regardless of the province in which they reside, their financial status, ethnic origin, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation. Implementing Bill S-263 would help protect Canada's future generations and bring justice to those who have been exploited. One victim is one too many.
