Pass a Law to Stop Animal Testing!
The Issue
Animal testing is a big problem in the United States. Last year, over 100 MILLION animals were tested on in laboratories across the USA. Only 3 percent survived, that’s only 3 million animals. The most common animals that are tested on are Guinea pigs, Rabbits, Hamsters, Dogs, Cats, and many more. All species need space to roam and live,BUT,
animals not only lived a terrible life in small cages and no enrichment, but they were also cut open and sewn back together with NO ANESTHETICS!! Imagine if someone took you too an operating table, strapped you down, and cut you open while they moved around your insides, or drilled a hole into your brain and took out parts of you brain.YOU COULD FEEL EVERYTHING. 66 percent of all animals tested were used without any pain reliving tactics.Animals have feelings too, they have complex relationships and can feel pain and fear. The animals also develop mental illnesses from being locked up in cage that is either overcrowded of isolated, them and experimented on. Some mental illnesses are, PTSD, which people usually get from coming from WAR, Anxiety, and depression. They also exhibit behaviors not usually seen in the wild like self-harm and aggression. PETA states, “They languish in pain, ache with loneliness, and long to be free from animal testing. Instead, all they can do is sit and wait in fear of the next terrifying and painful procedure that will be performed on them. A lack of environmental enrichment and the stress of their living situation cause some animals to develop neurotic types of behavior such as incessantly spinning in circles, rocking back and forth, pulling out their own fur, and even biting themselves. After enduring a life of pain, loneliness, and terror, almost all of them will be killed.” Who would want to live a life like that?
Some countries have already banned animal cosmetic testing, which is the most common kind. Some include, the European Union, Australia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Iceland, India, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Kingdom and several states in Brazil. Let’s have the United States join the list for a better world!
