Pass A Dissection Choice Bill In Connecticut

I'm a mother who cares about animals, and so do my kids. We believe that students should be able to ethically object to dissection, without suffering a penalty, so we're asking our state of Connecticut to pass a formal dissection choice bill. It's wrong for a state be able to force a student to violate his or her beliefs about animal protection, and we need your support.

Alternatives to dissection have been shown to provide equal or better educational value, and are supported by both the National Science Teachers Association and the National Association of Biology Teachers. Over 90% of medical schools have eliminated animal-based methods in teaching, so why should students be forced to kill animals in basic science classes?

All we are asking for is a formal, written choice policy for students who elect to use the alternatives. This helps to decrease intimidation felt by students who are opposed to dissection and encourages a more open classroom environment where all can actively participate in assignments (rather than simply having some students skip learning via an alternate methodology).

Please support my family and me in asking Connecticut to join California, Florida, Illinois, Virginia, and many other states who have existing protections for students who simply want to learn without violating their ethical beliefs.
