Stop the neglect towards marine life in SeaWorld!
The abuse and neglect taking place in organisations (in particular Sea World) is astonishing. Orcas’ lifespan in captivity, for no reason other than entertainment, is reduced from at least 50 years, to less than 10.
Neglect and abuse have led to a series of issues. Orcas are killed in the process of trying to catch them, black zinc oxide is used to cover up burns, and they are forced to breed with their parents in order to keep the numbers up (this leads to their own issues). It was also rumoured that a mass death of orcas took place and Sea World covered their tracks by filling up the bodies with rocks and sinking them to the bottom of the ocean. The above image shows employees using orcas as toys.
More than 60 bottlenose dolphins—including 16 stillborn babies—died at SeaWorld parks in just 10 years.
Is it fair that these animals have to suffer for our amusement? I would much rather watch them in the wild than I’m captivity, hurt and abused, and the road to death. These innocent animals are resorting to suicide, and the fact an animal has the capacity to do that shows it’s unfair in itself. Orcas don’t have a tendency to hurt humans, but several workers and trainers have died due to the orcas lashing out from anger.
This has to stop!
