Ban the barbaric practice of declawing cats in Canada

Declawing is a horrible and barbaric practice for cats same as ear cutting or tail docking...etc. It is a form of animal abuse. It causes excruciating pain and many suffer behavioral issues as a direct result. It is absolutely not necessary and only done for our own convenience not for the cat's well being. When cats lose their claws they begin to bite instead, and many have litter box issues because their feet hurt - which they associate with the box. They are prone to more health issues, such as arthritis and many times nails grow back under the pads necessitating further surgery. The shelters are filled with declawed cats surrendered for behavioral issues. I am sure that none of this comes as a surprise to you... What surprises me is that Canada is one of the few first world countries that allow this awful practice, which the majority of the world made illegal. Please make veterinarians stop looking at this torture as a revenue stream by writing a paper declaring this practice as unethical, and use your influence to get this practice banned outright in this country. How is a vet, who became a vet motivated by his/her love to animals can do such a thing to a cat is beyond imagination

Take a stand and save our feet!

Declawing is already banned in the following US cities: Berkeley, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Santa Monica. Malibu condemned the practice in a resolution, but did not legally ban the practice.

Declawing is already banned in the following countries: England, Scotland, Wales, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Slovenia, Portugal, Belgium, Spain, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand.

Why is Canada behind !!!!!!!!
