I am an elderly, white, English woman.   All my life I have believed in equality and fairness for ALL - regardless of colour, religion, sexuality or anything else which may cause a divide among people.  I believe everyone should be given the same opportunities and treated equally but today I was dumbfounded to find out that a young white man, born and bred in this country cannot apply for a position in the police force because they are only recruiting ethnic minorities!!!!

Where is the fairness and equality in this thinking ?  Isn't this thinking racist? Surely by trying to repair one wrong we are creating another?  This type of thinking is going to create ill feeling and resentment within the white population.  In a just and fair world ALL applicants should be treated equally.  ALL should be allowed to apply if they hold the relevant qualifications and the BEST, MOST ABLE PERSON SHOULD SUCCEED REGARDLESS OF COLOUR, only then will we create a better society for ALL.  You can't create an equal society overnight by discriminating against another section of society.  It's going to take time and a level playing field,  if only a proportion of society are allowed to apply for a job, by definition the best person may not be employed for that job.  This leaves the successful applicant with doubts as to whether the job has been won on merit,  colleagues thinking the only reason the successful applicant could succeed was because there were limited applicants allowed.   

Please help me by signing my petition in the hope that common sense hasn't fully retired to be replaced by political politeness gone wrong.  

Get Parliament to rethink the laws to include equality for All.
