150.000 signatures

 
Ahora ya hemos conseguido las 150.000 firmas. En las proximas semanas vamos a ver si hay reacción alguna. El Parlamento Europeo está todavía de vacaciones de verano.

Probablemente sea mejor no estar demasiado optimista - obtener resultatos en la política internacional es un proceso que tipicamente está muy lento, y puede tardar años.

El nuevo gobierno en España puede ser un poquíto más interesado en el bienestar de los animales que el anterior, pero la diferencia no es grande. No es probable que va a hacer nada voluntariamente a la pesima situación de los galgos españoles, sin ser apresurado de los otros países miembros de la Union Europea.

Por eso, por supuesto, continuamos con la petición. (Si, por ejemplo, más que un millón de personas firmaron contra una visita de Donald Trump a Inglaterra, podríamos nosotros tambien con el tiempo obtener un millón de firmas, para los galgos...)

By now we have managed to get 150.000 signatures. In the next weeks we will see if there is any reaction. The European Parliament is still on summer vacation.

It is probably better not to be too optimistic – achieving results in international politics is a process that typically is slow, and can take years.

The new Spanish government might be slightly more interested in animal well being than the earlier one, but the difference is not large. It is highly unlikely that they will do anything on their own initiative to improve the very bad situation for the Galgos, without being pressured from the other member states in the European Union.

Because of this we will, of course, continue with this petition. (As, for example, more than a million people have signed against a visit of Donald Trump to Great Britain, we could with time also receive a million signatures, for the Galgos…)
