Una pata rota, para que se muera de hambre... A leg broken, to make the dog starve to death... English text continues below. La temporada de caza ha empezado hace un mes. Miles de galgos jóvenes que no cazan suficiente bien, (según la opinión de los galgueros), van a ser matados de distintas maneras no muy agradables. Como, por ejemplo, el ahorcamiento, ser pegado hasta morir, o romper a una pata y abandonar para que se mueran de hambre. La Unión Europea podría prohibir el uso de galgos para la caza, utilizando su poder de hacer leyes de caza. Al contrario al mito unfortunado, la caza no esta bajo la soberanía nacional. (Lo que al presente no puede prohibir la UE son las carreras de greyhounds y galgos.) Otra cosa es que podría ser difícil obtener suficientes votos en el Parlamento Europeo, especialmente si el gobierno español decide utilizar su poder politico. Eventos recientes políticos, sin embargo, muestran que el gobeirno español no es completamente indiferente a opiniones expresados en periodicos y television europeos. Hay grandes diferencias en como actuan las asociaciones animalistas en Europea. En Francia hay, por ejemplo, la Fundación Brigitte Bardot, que con su carta al rey español sobre los galgos hizo un impacto grande el año pasado. Y, al otro lado, hay por ejemplo asociaciones animalistas suecas, que no les interesa hacer nada para los galgos. Una de las suecas tenía ingresos alrededor de 2,7 milliones de Euros (26,8 millones SEK) en 2015, pero escribe que ’no tiene tiempo ni recursos’ para ayudar a los galgos de ninguna manera. Obviamente ni siquiera para usar su pagina de internet... En el espiritu de Edvard Snowden, sería bueno mirar un poco más al ’animalismo’ en Europa... ¿Por que hay asociaciones animalistas que no actuan contra el problema más grande de maltrato de perros en toda Europa, posiblemente en el mundo entero? Hay asociaciones de derechos animales en Europa que tienen muchísimo dinero. Si muchos de sus MIEMBROS exigen que actuan para los galgos, es posible que deciden hacer algo... Si eres miembro de alguna asociación europea grande de derechos animales, puedes por supuesto proponer que empiezan a actuar para los galgos... Se puede bien argumentar, que dinero donado en primer lugar debería usar para ayudar a animales todavía vivos, a la vez de, por ejemplo, dar prioridad a exigir justicia para ratas muertas hace tiempo (ejemplo autentico). ¡Vamos a ganar!, por supuesto, incluso si algunas grandes asociaciones animalistas europeas, como también el gobierno español, continuan a mostrar un desinterés total para el sufrimiento de los galgos. Sólo significa que va a necesitar más tiempo... Por favor, ¡que siguen ayudando a difundir la petición! ¡Muchas gracías por su ayuda! The hunting season started one month ago. Thousands of young Galgos, that are not good enough at hunting, (in the opinion of the hunters), will be killed in different, not at all pleasant, ways. For example hanging, being beaten to death, or deliberately breaking a leg and then leaving them to starve to death. The European Union can stop the use of Galgos for hunting, by using its power to make hunting laws. In contrary to the unfortunate myth, hunting laws are not beneath national sovereignty. (What cannot at present be stopped by the EU is racing with Greyhounds and Galgos.) It could however prove difficult to get sufficient votes in the European Parliament, especially if the Spanish government should decide to use its political influence. Recent political events however show, that the Spanish government is not entirely indifferent to opinions expressed in European newspapers and television... There are large differences in how the animal rights organizations of Europe are acting. In France there is, for example, the Foundation Brigitte Bardot, which with her letter to the Spanish king, about the suffering of the Galgos, has made a large impact. And of an entirely different kind, there are for example Swedish animal rights organizations, that are not interested in doing anything to help the Galgos. One of the Swedish organizations had incomes of more than 2,7 million Euros (26,8 millions SEK) in 2015, but claim in an e-mail that they ’neither have the time nor the resources’ to help the Galgos in any way! Obviously not even to write anything in their internet page... In the spirit of Edvard Snowden, it would be good with a further look into animal rights in Europe. Why are some animal rights organizations not taking any action against the largest problem of cruelty against dogs in Europe, possibly in the entire world ? There are several animal rights organizations in Europe possessing large amounts of money. If many of their MEMBERS should demand that they act for the Galgos, they might decide to do something... Should you be a member of any large European animals rights organization, you could of course suggest that they act in order to help the Galgos. One might well argue, that donated money primarily should be used in order to help animals still alive, rather than, for example, giving priority to demanding justice for long since dead rats (real life example). We will of course eventually win, even if some large animal rights organizations, just as the Spanish government, continue to show a complete lack of interest for the Galgos suffering.
