The Issue

We all know Parker has a certain way with words and if he could give a speech at graduation we all could hear the truth. The restrictions for giving a speech are unfair to Parker as he is still a hard working student and community member of Milton. The restriction that is holding him back is as stated "Be an MHS senior who has a GPA of 3.5 or higher and be in good academic standing." This is discriminatory for those with lower GPA's  to meet such requirements. For the class of 2024 our freshman year was difficult, with many fighting through the hardships of the COVID pandemic. Learning was drastically changed and harder for some, this affected many of our GPA's. So with your signature we can give a true leader, a true member of the school a chance to speak. Parker should have a voice and so should you.

Freedom of speech was established in the First Amendment of the United States Constitution in 1791 along with freedom of religion, freedom of the press, and the right to assemble. In 1948, the UN recognized free speech as a human right in the International Declaration of Human Rights.
