Turn On Shirley Macey Waterpark Now!

Turn On Shirley Macey Waterpark Now!
The Issue
Shirley Macey Park is a beloved resource for families on the Sunshine Coast. This letter is a request for signatures of support to improve upon the only water park we have.
As parents of young children who use the park most, we humbly request:
- shade structures, and/or shade sails added to areas on and around the water park, so our children aren't at risk of sunstroke, and we can observe them without also being over-exposed.
-an increase in the water use budget to allow for a longer season of use, as well as longer daily hours of use.
-the hours of the park functionalilty to start ealier in the day (for young children), and extending for an after-dinner play for toddlers on long, hot summer evenings. The peak sun hours (10-2) are not only dangerous for sun exposure, but also prime nap and lunch times for families.
-the water feature turned on earlier in the year (starting in April) to reflect that we get hot days in the Spring, and we might as well make use of our water park before the inevitable seasonal restrictions are implemented.
-the addition of seating and picnic structures which are appropriately sized for little kids.
We love this park, and the caretakers do an excellent job maintaining this park. Please know that the pressure switch which triggures the water to come on, and the timer which turn it off, means that there is very little 'risk of abuse' with loosening the hours of operation. It simply means kids will get more use of this great resource.
Please turn the water on immediately. It's hot already!
Thank you for your attention to these matters.
