For over two years BCC has failed to provide financial transparency, by not providing their financial statements to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) since 2018, as legally required. This leads to the question why is this happening and why is the School Board not been held accountable for the school’s financial transparency and governance more broadly?
Numerous complaints and parent submissions have been made to the ACNC about declining services at the school, poor governance and a lack of accountability. Due to strict secrecy and privacy provisions, the ACNC has refused to update or respond to parent queries about the progression or resolution of any of these complaints.
How can we have any confidence or trust in the ACNC’s regulatory powers to protect our children and the viability of the school under these current arrangements?
Have your say to change these secrecy provisions and ensure that in the future the ACNC can advise a parent or school community how they are responding to matters concerning children’s care and education and the use of public monies.
