Request the presence of the Education Minister (Rod Bryans) at public NEF meeting

The Issue

During the Education Scrutiny meeting on Wednesday 6th April, where the public were unable to ask questions, the Education Minister was directly asked if he would be attending the public meeting on Wednesday 13th April at the Pomme D'Or hotel to answer questions from the public about cuts to NEF funding. His reply was "he'd check his diary". This petition is to show support for his presence to answer queries and questions from those affected by the cuts to free nursery hours for all. Also on Wednesday the 6th, the Education Minister told the scrutiny panel that the decision was all his to make, therefore HE should be answering questions at the meeting, not the Scrutiny Panel. He had not seen the need to discuss the cuts to NEF funding with the Education Scrutiny Panel (even though they had a meeting discussing nurseries the week before) or private nurseries (who are directly affected by the removal of ANY of the NEF free hours) before Wednesday 23rd March, the date the information was released to the media. It would be helpful if the Education Minister would attend the public meeting next Wednesday evening at the Pomme D'Or hotel, to answer our questions. To encourage him to attend please sign this petition and email him, as an elected representative (r.bryans@gov. je).
