The More You Know: EUSD has been SUED!

Parents have a right to opt their children out from teaching that violates their sincere religious beliefs.

This is the argument put forth by attorneys representing a district family whose 5th grader at La Costa Heights Elementary was compelled to watch a read aloud movie of My Shadow is Pink and complete an activity based on the movie with his kindergarten buddy. The district family was joined by another anonymous LCH family, both of whom argue that the district infringed upon their children’s religious beliefs by denying their request for advance notice and the option to opt out of the highly controversial lesson.

The Encinitas Union School District has refrained from commenting on the lawsuit due to ongoing litigation AND has not addressed this petition, which has garnered over 540 local signatures.

A striking excerpt from the lawsuit is displayed above as an image.
