"Today my voice will be heard, the story of Pieper Lewis holds power” - Pieper Lewis. 

Pieper is a young, black, Iowan, woman who is a survivor of sexual abuse and sex trafficking. she is currently incarcerated at Polk county jail. Pieper is charged with murder for protecting herself from a pedophile who was praying on and abusing her when she was fifteen years old. 

We belive Pieper Lewis doesn’t deserve any jail time for defending herself. Now, three years after the alleged crime occurred, we belive eighteen year old Pieper deserves a pardon. 

Pieper is but one of too many as Black girls represent 33% of those incarcerated, and 44% of those who are trafficked in America, despite only making up 13% of the population. Black women, and girls are disproportionately affected by these crimes.  

Pieper’s story, like many survivors, starts with a "ruptured beginning”

and holds a "tormented past” but Pieper tells us;

"My spirit has been burned, but still glows through the flames…

Hear me roar, see me glow, and watch me grow. I am a survivor,"

Pieper deserves to do more than survive in a cell, Pieper Lewis deserves a full life, 

outside of the prison industrial complex. 

Piepers story garnered national attention, when she was ordered to pay thousands of dollars to her abusers' estate, all of America was in an outrage at how unjustly Iowa was treating her.  It is our hope, all the people who shared her story, donated to her cause, and raised awareness- will once again wrap their hands around Pieper Lewis. 

Her determination and strength are undeniable, but she cannot persevere alone. 

Please sign this petition to demand pardons for Pieper. Together we can take a stand against the unjust incarceration of survivors of sextrafficking and black people. Together we can amplify the self advocacy of a teenage Black girl. Together we can help pieper grow, 

and glow through the flames.
