Include the original version of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie as a bonus feature on Blu-Ray
The Issue
As you know, the live action Sonic the Hedgehog movie has had the design of Sonic changed. Instead of the original terrifying design that had almost nothing in common with the original character, this new design looks a lot more like Sonic. However, I for one would really like to see the original cut of the movie with the initial design added as a bonus feature on the Blu-Ray disc of the movie, a collectors edition of the movie, or as its own disc entirely. And I'm not the only one who is saying this.
As you may have also heard, Sonic creator Yuji Naka has stated he would like to see the original version of the movie as well. Here is his exact quote:
"Sonic’s new design for the movie is out. However, it seems they’re making out as if the old design didn’t exist, as the old tweets were deleted. I wanted to see a special DVD version of the movie which used the old design."
While Yuji Naka might not have much say in the Sonic Movie, it still is something Paramount should consider at least. And while they've made up for their mistake by giving us the new design, it would just be interesting to see the movie with that original design. What I'm trying to say is that whole Paramount doesn't own us this, it would just be nice to have.
In conclusion, the new Sonic design is great. It represents the character and the games 1,000,000 times better. However, whole I am very grateful for this, there is a large part of me that really wants to see the original cut of the movie with the old design. Even if a lot or most the the scenes were unfinished, I would still really like to see it. And whether it be included as a bonus feature or as its own disc, I and many other people (including the creator of Sonic himself) would like to see it. And if you are one of those people who would like to see this happen, please support this petition. And hey, if Paramount was influenced by the fans to change the design, maybe we could do the same. So while it's very likely this won't happen and we will never see the original version of this movie, there's always a chance :)
