Chartreuse should be RED, not GREEN!

The Issue

“Chartreuse.” Say it with me. Close your eyes. Say it again. What do you see?

“Chartreuse” sounds like red, does it not? Like a sophisticated glass of pinot noir, a ruby in a dimly lit dining room, or perhaps the middle of a rare piece of steak. Yet the color it describes is a ghastly green/yellow; a neon blight upon the color wheel. Look up chartreuse if you do not believe me.

The English language has failed us, folks. It has failed “chartreuse.”

We must bring the word “chartreuse” justice by pairing it with a cognitively appropriate color— a deep, sophisticated red. Use your voice to DEMAND that Pantone reassigns “chartreuse” to a red color.

As the old adage goes, sticks and stones may break my bones, but it’s words that really hurt me.

End the hurt. Sign the petition. Pass it on. #justiceforchartreuse
