The Issue

Statement of Purpose:  We are the undersigned students and environmental advocates, calling for greater awareness of the possible effects of Pax Silica-related activities on people and the environment. We believe that everyone deserves access to clear and reliable information about issues that may affect their health, communities, and surroundings. Through this advocacy, we aim to inform and educate people, encourage responsible actions, and promote ways to protect both people and nature. We believe that spreading awareness today can build a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future for everyone.

Why this issue matters: Pax Silica has a lot of economic growth and advanced technological opportunities. But, in the long run, it can also pose potential risks to our health, natural resources, and the whole environment. The people most at risk, such as local farmers, fishermen, and indigenous communities, would suffer the greatest effects in terms of their health, the state of the ecosystems, and their everyday means of living. The implementation of Pax Silica has both positive and negative possible outcomes: a great offer for the future or depletion of natural resources. This issue matters because it should act as an eye-opener for authorities in charge and the community. By raising awareness and engaging responsible practices, we can help protect people, help in taking care of the environment, and promote a safer and more sustainable future.

Call to Action: We urgently call upon the Department of Information and Communications Technology, regulatory oversight boards, and local executives to take immediate action by:

  • Mandating Environmental and Resource Audits: Requiring independent, exhaustive public disclosures regarding the long-term electrical load, water system depletion, and localized resource consumption before infrastructure approval.
  • Enforcing Transparent Technology Governance: Setting up open regulatory hearings and civic oversight committees to prevent rapid, closed-door handovers to external technology vendors and platform cartels.
  • Prioritizing Inclusive Domestic Talent Development: Ensuring specialized infrastructure investments directly fund public university research facilities and local workforce training programs rather than compounding regional digital divides.

Sign this petition and let us work together to transform our expanding technological landscape into a safe, accountable, and transparent ecosystem where national progress never comes at the cost of community survival.
