The Issue

When I looked at the Product Registration Card from the box of the Close Curves Ladies Shaver I got for Christmas, I only saw the following terms:

  • Mr.
  • Mrs.
  • Ms.
  • and Miss

But no “Mx.” term. As a half female and half non-binary (demigirl), I find this absolutely disgusting because this reinforces the erasure and exclusion of genders besides male and female; non-binary, genderqueer, agender, genderfluid, and many other genders across the spectrum that use they/them pronouns. I even have friends of this kind myself and know many celebrities and public figures of this kind. I’m only fourteen years old, but if a non-binary, for example, were to fill out this form as an adult and they wanted to use “Mx.” as a term, then what else would they have to use if “Mx.” wasn’t even there? Exactly. Said non-binary would be revolted. The person who created this form obviously forgot all about “Mx.” and that person should be deeply ashamed of themselves. So please, try to get this petition everywhere, even 10,000 signatures would be okay. We cannot sit back and watch this transphobia occur. Gender is not an anatomy; it is the way we feel inside. Who knows how many genders there actually are, and who cares? Please get this petition as far as possible. We’ve reached a major success for LGBTQIA+ rights, but we still have an extremely long way to go. We are always saying this; trans rights are human rights. Get this as far as possible so every other gender under the spectrum can finally acquire the recognition they deserve! If you can afford to, donate so you can keep the petition going. We need Panasonic to notice what they’re doing wrong and make edits to the form.
