Pan-African Parliament: Break Your Silence and Hold Your Host Nation Accountable!
The Issue
The Crisis
We, the citizens of Africa and the global diaspora, call on the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) to halt the escalating crisis of Afrophobic violence, systemic discrimination, and vigilante-led terror targeting African migrants and refugees in South Africa. From the Western Cape to KwaZulu-Natal, African nationals face forced evictions, looting, and targeted killings. This state-tolerated violence is a flagrant betrayal of continental unity and a direct breach of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights.
The PAP's Direct Responsibility
The Pan-African Parliament is headquartered in Midrand, South Africa. It is unacceptable for the legislative voice of Africa to remain silent while its host nation actively violates the rights of the very citizens the Parliament represents. Through its Committee on Justice and Human Rights, the PAP must exercise its oversight mandate and move from symbolic condemnation to decisive action.
Our Demands
We call upon the Pan-African Parliament to:
- Convene an Emergency Session: Immediately investigate South Africa's systemic failure to prevent Afrophobic human rights abuses.
- Review Host Nation Status: Condition South Africa's privilege of hosting the PAP on its ability to guarantee the safety of all African citizens within its borders.
- Issue Directives Against Vigilantism: Issue formal legislative recommendations demanding South Africa permanently disband anti-migrant vigilante groups.
- Enforce Free Movement Compliance: Establish strict human rights metrics to protect migrants and stop weaponized, illegal mass deportations.
Africa belongs to all Africans. Sign this petition today to force the Pan-African Parliament to protect our people! Urgent Note: We are also demanding immediate action from the AU Executives meeting from June 24-25. Please make sure to sign and summit a sister petition here [Insert Link]."
