Take Down Unkempt Tennis Courts By Fairgrounds Middle and Elementary Schools

The Issue

The tennis courts are an eyesore to say the least, but they are also a danger to the children that attend Fairgrounds Middle and Elementary Schools.

The fence surrounding the tennis course is completely rusted and broken open in spots, creating sharp, rusted edges.  The courts themselves are completely unmaintained and are being slowly overgrown by weeds.  The pavement is also cracked and weeds are growing through.

The property itself is of a safety concern as it is only a matter of time before a child is injured while playing around or in the courts.  Since the city seems to have abandoned the property, it only makes sense to have it torn down and removed, and grass put in place to grow.

We petition the City of Nashua to remove the tennis courts and its rusted, unsafe equipment and replace it with grass, thereby making the grounds safer and more appealing to everyone.

Mr. Kirkland, Happy to respond, based on your response, I wanted to be sure you knew that there already is a hockey rink at Labine, that has been well maintained for more than 40 years. While street hockey can be played there, it is primarily for ice hockey and skating. When facing the middle school it is to the right of the fence. As always it will be flooded this year, hope your kids get the chance to try it this season. Also please feel free to reach out to my office any time you have a question or concern, you should not have to start a petition to get an answer to something, I’m happy to help. Donnalee
