Squalor along El Camino in Palo Alto
Why this petition matters
We would like the city of Palo Alto to enforce regulating 72-hour parking, especially for residential vans, along El Camino Real (795-1795) because significant problems along the road persist. For example, there are blocked sidewalks making it dangerous for pedestrians and bikers. There are numerous environmental hazards such as human waste and trash blocking the sidewalks and roadway. There are also numerous safety hazards present and the RVs block commercial and residential parking spaces along a busy street.
For reference, the city of Mountain View adopts a full ban on RV parking on narrow streets, and Los Altos also has the 72-hour parking policy, however, it is heavily enforced. The city of Menlo Park also bans permanent residential vans from parking overnight without a permit. We are simply asking the city of Palo Alto to also enforce the mandated 72-hour parking.
