We petition Palmerston North City Council to pause further Council support, promotion or infrastructure commitments for new hyperscale and AI data centres until the people of Palmerston North have been fully informed and given a meaningful say in the future direction of our city.

We ask Council to:

Release all non-confidential information about proposed data-centre developments, agreements, infrastructure commitments, costs and expected impacts.
Ensure independent assessment of environmental, infrastructure, economic and community impacts, including electricity and water demand, heat, waste and e-waste, hazardous materials and emergency-response requirements.
Undertake genuine public consultation after this information is released.
Give Palmerston North residents a direct vote before Council makes any further major decision to support, promote or commit public resources to hyperscale or AI data-centre development.
We are asking for transparency, informed public participation and a real say in our city’s future.
