This perfectly healthy, 100-year-old Macrocarpa at the entrance of the Palmerston North Motor Camp is under threat. The council have had a request from a company to chop it down. At this stage, they are considering it. However, if there are enough people wanting to keep this beautiful, healthy tree, they will also consider keeping it.

This tree has survived being on the edge of a swamp, part of a golf course, to the development of urban housing. It is not impeding the new cycle/ walkway bridge build. There is no need to chop this West End icon down.
