The future of the Orangutans is in the ‘Palm’ of your hand. In Indonesia and Malaysia, forests are being chopped down to create Palm Oil plantations. Orangutans, Elephants, Tigers, Monkeys and many other animals are critically endangered because their homes are being destroyed.

Every year, PepsiCo (The company that owns Pepsi, Smiths Chips, Doritos, and many others) buys 427,000 tonnes of Palm Oil. They are supporting the companies that chop down thousands of acres of forests, killing the wildlife that live inside it.

Because of the Palm Oil Industry, 10,000 orangutans are killed every year. As consumers, we have the responsibility to save the Indonesian and Malaysian animals. You would not believe the amount of things that contain Palm Oil:

• Chips
• Icecream
• Cookies
• Cereal
• Detergent
• Pizza
• Bread
• Chocolate
• Lipstick
• Margarine
• Instant noodles
• Bio-Diesel
• and the list continues...

In ten years time, it is estimated that 98% of the rainforests in Indonesia and Malaysia will be cut down. As well as making many animals become extinct, there will be less trees to create oxygen for humans and animals. Chopping down forests also contributes to Climate Change.
