Palestinian Christian Appeal: Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza  

We, Palestinian Christian grass-roots individuals, communities, and organizations, implore our Christian brothers and sisters worldwide to join us, alongside numerous human rights organizations and international bodies, and the heads of churches in Jerusalem, in our call for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza. The congoing genocide against and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians that is taking place in front of our eyes must stop NOW.

We plead to you from the very context of a bleeding Palestinian community. As we make this urgent appeal, at least 11,078 civilians in Gaza have been killed, including 4,506 children with more than 2,700 missing under the rubble. At least 1.5 million people have been displaced and more than half of all housing units have been damaged and 40,000 homes have been completely destroyed. A Palestinian child is killed every ten minutes. Hospitals are determined out of service. The lives of innocent people are at stake. We cannot remain silent. The situation in Gaza puts our discipleship at test. Failure means more death and destruction of God’s good creation.  

We urge you to speak and not be silent. We cannot be passive observers to these atrocities. This is a critical moment that demands action, not indifference. It is not the time to turn a blind eye to suffering. History will etch its records based on our words and actions. Now is the time for faithful prophetic courage against the force of weapons.

We encourage you to speak out, join demonstrations, mobilize within your community, put pressure on your political leaders through calls and written correspondence, and organize nonviolent direct action campaigns and sit-ins. Whatever it takes to compel your government and decision-makers to take action. This is beyond urgent.

We, alongside millions around the world, call for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire to be followed by humanitarian support to those in need and a definitive solution that upholds the fundamental principles of human rights, the right of return, self-determination, and adherence to international laws. 

Finally, we call on you to sign and circulate this urgent call to action as a commitment to bring an end to all atrocities and violence in Gaza. 

 

المسيحيون في فلسطين يناشدون العالم لوقف فوري للحرب على غزة

نحن، أفرادًا وجماعات ومؤسسات مسيحية فلسطينية، نناشد إخواننا وأخواتنا المسيحيين في جميع أنحاء العالم للانضمام إلينا، إلى جانب العديد من منظمات حقوق الإنسان والهيئات الدولية ورؤساء كنائسنا في القدس، في الدعوة إلى وقف فوري وشامل للحرب في غزة. إن الإبادة الجماعية المستمرة والتطهير العرقي ضد الفلسطينيين، والتي تجري أمام أعيننا، يجب أن تتوقف الآن.

إننا نناشدكم بهذا النداء العاجل من قلب معاناة شعبنا الفلسطيني النازف. حيث قُتل ما لا يقل عن 11,078 مدنيًا في غزة، من بينهم 4,506 طفلا ورضيعاً. وهناك أكثر من 2,700 طفل في عداد المفقودين تحت الأنقاض. وقد نزح ما لا يقل عن 1.5 مليون شخص، وتضرر أكثر من نصف الوحدات السكنية في قطاع غزة، ودُمر 40 ألف منزل بالكامل.  طفلٌ فلسطيني يقتل كل عشر دقائق. غالبية المستشفيات أصبحت خارج الخدمة. حياة الأبرياء على المحك: اطفالا ونساء وشيوخا. لا يمكننا أن نبقى صامتين. إن الوضع في غزة يضع قيمنا المسيحيّة والإنسانية على المحك. الفشل في إيقاف الحرب يعني المزيد من الموت وتدمير خليقة الله.

نحثكم أيها الأخوة والأخوات على التكلّم وعدم الصمت. لا يمكننا أن نكون مراقبين صامتين لهذه الفظائع. هذه لحظة حاسمة تتطلب العمل وليس اللامبالاة. وهذا ليس الوقت المناسب لغض الطرف عن المعاناة. سوف يحفر التاريخ سجلاته بناءً على كلماتنا وأفعالنا. لا نستطيع ان نكون متواطئين بصمتنا. لقد حان الوقت للشجاعة الإيمانية النبوية ضد قوة السلاح والدمار والموت.

نشجعكم على التكلّم علنًا، والانضمام إلى  والحث على فعاليات مناهضة للحرب، والتعبئة داخل مجتمعاتكم، والضغط على قادتكم السياسيين من خلال المكالمات والمراسلات المكتوبة وتنظيم فعاليات واعتصامات لاعنفية ومبدعة، وعمل كل ما يلزم لإجبار صناع القرار على اتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة لوقف شلال الدم. هذا أمر أكثر من عاجل.

إننا، إلى جانب الملايين حول العالم، ندعو إلى وقف فوري وشامل لإطلاق النار، على أن يتبعه دعم إنساني للمحتاجين، وعودة جميع النازحين، وإيجاد حل نهائي للصراع يدعم المبادئ الأساسية لحقوق الإنسان، وحق العودة، وتقرير المصير، والالتزام بالقوانين الدولية.

وأخيرا، ندعوكم للتوقيع على هذا النداء العاجل ومشاركته على نحو واسع. نؤكد فيه التزامنا بالدفاع عن الأبرياء والضعفاء. أوقفوا الحرب فوراً.
