Save the Log Jammer at Kennywood

Today (Sept. 14, 2017), it was announced that Kennywood is retiring the Log Jammer on Sept. 17, 2017 giving fans THREE days notice that one of their most nostalgic and beloved rides was closing forever.

For many of us, Kennywood is about nostalgia and history. We don't need bigger, better or faster. As one person put it, it's a park "built on family tradition and memories." The Log Jammer, as well as a number of other rides such as the Racer, Thunderbolt, Jack Rabbit and the Turtle, should be registered as historical landmarks.

To the executives of Kennywood, if you were born and raised in this city, you would understand the rich history of the park and why it means so much to us. I urge you to watch Rick Sebak's 1988 documentary, "Kennywood Memories."

Please, we ask that you keep the Log Jammer, if not forever, for at least one more season so those of us that grew up riding it, those of us that take our kids on it, and those of us that ride it with our grandparents, can enjoy it one last time.
