Keep the classic rides of Kennywood!

The Issue

Kennywood Park is an amusement park located in West Mifflin, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh. The park has been around since 1898 and is only one of two amusement parks in the country to be designated a National Historic Landmark. On November 3rd, 2020, the park announced they will be retiring four of their most historic and well-known attractions. Volcano, an Enterprise ride that opened in 1978, is probably the least significant of the removals. It's been super unreliable until they replaced it with another version in 2016 and has run consistently. Paratrooper, opening in 1976 is one of the few of its kind left. Bayern Kurve opened in 1971 and was absent from the park from 2005-2008 for refurbishment. Kurve is one of the more thrilling rides at Kennywood, more so than some of the modern rides. Kangaroo, opening in 1962 is the last ride of its kind, and is an icon of the park. I understand Kangaroo's removal, it's been maintained entirely by the park for a long time. But the rest I do not understand, as they got refurbished or replaced a short while ago. Yinzers do not like change, and most of us grew up riding these rides, they are symbols of the park and what makes the park a landmark. Sign this!
