Hello, we are a group of students who are trying to highlight the importance of food wastage and how it leads to bigger issues like food insecurity. Waste Not Want Not PK Organization aims to bring awareness to this issue. While 36 Million Tonnes of food is wasted per year, every 10 seconds a child dies of hunger and 43 Percent of the citizens in Pakistan are food insecure. We believe that the food wastage is one of the main reasons for food insecurity and contributes to global hunger, but although it’s the cause, it is also the leading solution to eradicate food insecurity.  It is high time for us as individuals to take initiative, therefore we decided to start 'Waste Not, Want Not’.

Living in a country like Pakistan we have first hand viewed, the ongoing crisis of hunger and excessive food wastage and seen how there is lack of effort on the government sides there needs to be a change in policy and practice and this petition will help that. 

Therefore, we have decided to create this petition “A Permanent Solution to Stop Food Wastage in Pakistan”, we hope you sign this petition as it helps us go one step further in our fight to eradicate food wastage. The solution we propose requires a multidimensional approach, from social protection to safeguard safe and nutritious food by eradicating food wastage- to transforming food systems to achieve a more inclusive and sustainable world. We believe that can be achieved by proper management of food resources and proper distribution by the government and Agriculture Department of Pakistan, putting a ban on unnecessary bulk buying, redistributing left over food, dismantling the broader systems and institutions that are perpetuating this unjust and inequitable exchange of resources, not letting food expire. In addition to that, awareness campaigns on the importance of not wasting food.
