Paint our Sidewalks in Solidarity for Indigenous Peoples
Why this petition matters
The number of dead children is still unknown, but hundreds of mass graves were discovered at residential schools in British Columbia, Canada. Thousands of dead native children, all forced to go to a school that punished them for who they were, what they looked like, what they believed, and speaking the only language they knew.
There are still numerous schools in Canada that have not been searched, and many dead children that have not been found. In the United States, not one residential school has been searched. If there are that many bodies in only a small number of schools in a small area, imagine how many dead children there really are.
Finding the bodies won't change the fact that those poor children are no longer with us, but it can at least give the families peace.
This petition is to ask the city of Minneapolis to paint crosswalks the color orange with feathers to raise awareness for the tragedy at hand.
Hopefully with more support we can get more cities to do this.
