Currently the City of Scranton has a flag which is not very aesthetic. The previous one was far too complex, leading for it to be rather bad as well. I would like to see a contest made so that people can enter their own designs, and the city can finally have a flag that brings it honour. I will even enter a design, myself. The flag should represent the city's past, but also look to the future. That may seem like a generic goal for something such as this, but looking at the current flag, it would be difficult to say that it represents more than some portions of the past. The city needs a timeless symbol, and I believe that this is not it. A symbol which is non-political, and non-partisan, so that we can all gather around it in unison. I am certain that I am not alone in my desire to help this city out, and create the needed improvement to the flag which flies from City Hall. Perchance we can make a design so great that the people of the city will wish to fly its new emblem from their homes even. As it stands, I do not think that is a common desire. All Scrantonians should be able to be proud of that which represents them. So let us improve the image of this city. Let us give it a grand banner which would set us apart from all the others, and show that we have an exemplary city. Let us work together for the betterment of Scranton. May Scranton be ever after able to fly something that exudes greatness.
