In prisons and jails all over the country, women suffer from not having proper sanitary products. They get a minimum number of pads on the week of their period. Some prisons offer only 10 pads per period week, and if the inmates need more, they have to pay for them with their own money. On an average 5 day cycle, getting only 10 pads means 1 change per day.

In North Carolina, we propose to embrace women’s health by allowing women to have free menstrual products while incarcerated. We hope to see that sanitary napkins, pads, tampons and menstrual cups shall be provided in sufficient amount to inmates. For free!
