RESPONSE TO MIKE O'NIEILL:

May 2, 2022

Good evening Mike,

Thank you so much for your response, we are all very happy to hear that a study session is definitely appropriate for our cause, and that it can be scheduled for two weeks after the council meeting.

It is also a relief to know your history with the B & G clubs, and that you cherish the clubhouses in Pacifica, as much we do.

Thank you for standing up FOR us, and WITH us.

We know that the key to saving our clubhouses will be yourself and the city council, holding the B & G club council accountable for their plans LONG TERM.

We are MOST concerned that they are planning to appease us by staying open for 1 to 2 years, and then letting it close down, citing financial reasons.

Also to note:

1) We would like this B&G; Club issue to be put on your official agenda at the next city council mtg, May 9th, 2022, with city council staff calling on B & G club leadership to participate in a study session within two weeks. We have reviewed your administrative policy, and know that this is possible. (Policy 1, page 6 admin policy).

2) Special Study session, asked for Monday May 23rd at 7:00pm, should be a round table Q & A among all parties: City Council, parents, and B & G club Leadership, mainly from Peninsula since they are the successor club. B&G; Club can send in their position ahead of time, to be placed in the meeting packet for everyone to read.

3) AT MINIMUM: Pacifica clubs will REMAIN OPEN indefinitely. a. NO reduction in programs b. PARENTS get to approve and confirm terms of the club post- merger to ensure it meets the needs of their students c. Review financials to secure program continuity – NO draining of funds for a stealth shut-down.

In closing, Families need to ensure any new "Agreement" will NOT be a way to delay closure for 1 to 2 years.

A clear statement/adopted policy is required from our city council that Pacifica Boys & Girls Club stay open indefinitely.

Below, the City Council staff are encouraged to invite these B & G Club members to our study session:

1) Boys & Girls Club co-CEO's Jenny Obiaya and Peter Fortenbaugh with Rob Burgess continuing as Chair.

2) Rob Burgess, Boys & Girls Club President

3) Ken Busch, Boys & Girls Club North San Mateo

4) Jeff Nix, Mid-Pen Boys & Girls Club

Mike, thank you again, for your time and response to this matter. Your advocacy, and willingness, to schedule a study session are deeply appreciated by the parents and community trying to keep the Pacifica clubhouses open.

With much gratitude,

Erin Pickett

Erin I apologize for the late reply as my Wife and I were on a long weekend getaway. Unfortunately we rarely schedule study session the same day as a Council meeting.

B&G; is appropriate for a study session, however if we schedule it for the same night as a meeting the Study Session would start either at 5PM making it inconvenient for most parents, or else after the meeting which is tiring for Council Members as we all have jobs the next morning.

We also do not know when the meeting will end to give proper notice such as 10:00PM or 10:30PM etc.

We can schedule a Study session for the next week when the full Council will be there as Sue Beckmeyer is on vacation and will not be back until then.

I wanted to take a moment and thank you for your efforts for B&G.; I was on the Board of Directors of B&G; and it is a worthwhile and wonderful organization for youth in Pacifica or anywhere for that matter.

My information indicates that there will be a resolution very quickly, a resolution that will save Pacifica B&G; in a very efficient manner.

There are many issues that need to be resolved if the City were to be involved such as licensing, employment, hiring, site inspections etc.
