UDPATE - 4/30 – PARTIAL RESPONSE FROM MARY BIER (MAYOR) FROM THIS MORNING’S EMAIL

QUICK SUMMARY: Mary Bier send a response yesterday afternoon, stating that our two options are a Town Hall Meeting, or a Study Session.

She indicated a study session would "take at least a month" to try and schedule. A Town Hall Meeting would be organized by B&G club.

To be clear, The community of Pacifica will NOT accept a Town Hall Mtg, organized by the B & G club, to give us false answers and half truths.

The ONLY acceptable agreement, is a STUDY SESSION, wherein the B & G club will have to come prepared with their financials, and have a reciprocal and TRANSPARENT conversation with the City Council and our community.

Of NOTE: Our council members and some of the B & G club Board members (Eddie Flores) are all at a “getaway” weekend at this very moment, with ample time to talk, and at $750 a night, should perhaps give them ample time to talk about a study session date and time.

My response to Mary and the City Council is below. We EXPECT to be an agenda at next city council on 5/9.

In Solidarity,

Erin Pickett

MY RESPONSE TO MARY BIER (MAYOR)

April 30, 2022 - 4:00 pm

Hi Mary,

Thank you very much for your response.

As parents involved with the Pacifica Boys & Girls Club and Pacifica voters, we have made our requests perfectly clear, beginning with City Council on April 25th. Please allow me to repeat them, so there is no confusion.

1. City council “rules” are not on the city website, however, I do know one member can agendize a matter for discussion.

We ask, and expect, for you to agendize a May 9th discussion regarding a study session with the city council and the B & G club.

The reciprocal nature of this forum is the best way for our community to get CLEAR answers from B&G Club Leadership--- they get asked questions and answer crisply.

Moreover, our city staff can ask B & G Club to submit their position paper, to be included in the study session agenda. All cards on the table.

2. The longer city Council is inactive, or engages in unproductive closed-door meetings or discussions, the B & G Club decisions move on without our public input. We EXPECT input, and time is critical.

3. Council directs staff to invite B & G Club Leadership. They are listed below.

4. With the Peninsula club March 11th merger release is still on the website, the matter is moving forward, and Peninsula is calling the shots. We are NOT interested in meeting North San Mateo club leadership alone. They will be redundant, as soon as the merger concludes. Of note, they presumably supported the Pacifica club closure, so we know where they stand.

5. Finally, City staff must alert B & G Club of the Peninsula ASAP, of the pending study session, so no Peninsula decisions are cast in stone. Having to unwind Peninsula decisions will be excessively harmful to Pacifica, and will only subject our city council to more objections.

6. We need the authority of city council to run all meetings and secure a binding agreement from the Boys & Girls Club. We are NOT interested in a town hall meeting, managed by the B & G Club. The Boys & Girls Club does NOT represent us, our City Council does.

We look forward to hearing from you regarding being put on the city council agenda and scheduling the study session.

Sincerely,
Erin Pickett
