PACFA helps create safety measures for pet facilities in the State of Colorado.

While important, this program has not only overstepped their jurisdiction but aren’t consistent when they inspect and give certain businesses a heads up for inspection and others no notice. Now they are proposing a change where groomers have to have updated vaccine information and we can’t take dogs who arent up to date. This will significantly hurt groomers and pets. Vaccines should be a discussion between a pet owner and their vet. 

We need to change the way PACFA works. It needs to be restructured. Separate rules for a grooming facility vs a breeding facility or pet store. The continuing education should also be separated so we don’t have to spend hours learning about a rule that doesn’t apply to our business. Inspectors should have experience in the businesses they are inspecting and attempt to be as consistent with every business as possible. 

Not only are there the above issues but many groomers and pet care providers have shared concerns with how they have been treated by the inspectors. We are a large community and can get these things changed!
