Connect the Suburbs: Extend Pace Route 715

Connect the Suburbs: Extend Pace Route 715

Currently the Pace Bus route 715 which services College of Dupage begins at Argonne National Lab in Lemont, and ends at the Addison Walmart. After stopping at the College of Dupage, it makes at stop at the Glen Ellyn Metra, where it connects with the Union Pacific West Metra Line. I propose an extension to the 715 after Addison to meet the Milwaukee District West Metra Line in Itasca, Medinah, or Roselle.
This proposed extension would eliminate the need to ride into Chicago to transfer between these two rail lines, decreasing commuter times for rail passengers, and reducing congestion at the terminal in Chicago. In addition, it would make a commute by rail a viable option for college students along the MD-W, and open up job opportunities to people living along either parallel route.
This extension would help the towns near the proposed stop, as well. The residents of Roselle and Medinah have no grocery store within walking distance, and the Roselle town council has approved the construction of two major apartment complexes along the Metra line in the last five years, right in the middle of an area that is already unsafe for pedestrians due to the amount of motor traffic. Having easy access to a bus to the Addison shopping center -which in addition to having not one, but two grocery stores, also boasts a variety of entertainment options, within walking distance, including the movie theater- will help temper the increase in traffic at the two major intersections near these apartments.
An accessible suburbs is a prosperous suburbs. Let's make our suburbs shine.
