Help free the Horton Brothers

The criminal justice system is broken and mass incarceration is a blind man with a gun, targeting the innocent and guilty alike.

In 1993, Dennis Horton AKA Freedom and Lee Horton (the Horton Brothers) became two of its casualties. For 27 years the Horton Brothers fought alone now they need your help. Arrested for a murder they did not commit and sentenced to Death by Incarceration, they've languished in prison under the weight of an unfair trial. The police engaged in misconduct, their attorneys were ineffective, the witnesses mistaken, and the result was a wrongful conviction. They turned down 4-10 year deals because of their innocence. They both had zero juvenile criminal records, zero adult records, and exemplary prison records with zero misconducts.

Although prison is their reality, they have not let it define them: both are Certified Peer Support Specialist, Wellness Recovery Action Plan Facilitators, Trauma Sensitive Yoga Instructors, Thresholds Teachers, Think Tank members, Crime Victim Awareness Conference and Day Of Responsibility Organizers, and Founders and Creators of many programs in prison. The person who admitted to committing this crime and advocates for the Horton Brothers’ innocence has been free on parole since 2008.

The PA Department of Corrections wants them out, their prison warden begged the board of pardons to release them.

What purpose is served with their continued imprisonment except for them to die in prison? Lt Governor John Fetterman’s tweet following their denied commutation was “The Horton Brothers are either innocent or have flawlessly faked conducting themselves FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIVES as innocent men.”
