Polyamory is about multiple open loving relationships, it is not purely based on sexual activities!

The Oxford Language Dictionary is used as the primary source for when people use Google's search engine. This means that when someone searches for "Polyamorous Definition", they will be presented with a definition of "characterized by or involved in the practice of engaging in multiple sexual relationships with the consent of all the people involved". This definition is inaccurate because the polyamorous relationships are based on open loving relationships. The characterization of polyamory as being only related to sexual activities can cause those that are unaware of the truth to look negatively on these people and treat them differently.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines polyamory as "the state or practice of having more than one open romantic relationship at a time." While this definition is closer and less demeaning, it still does not provide the full scope of what it means to be in a polyamorous relationship.

Dictionaries are used to help people educate themselves about terms they are not familiar with. When these terms are inaccurate, they cause invalid perceptions to be formed. This can lead to polyamorous people to be mistreated and/or discriminated against.
