Colleen Keating started this petition to Oxford Dictionay and

The dictionaries currently define the word "witch" as..

 (Entry 1 of 2)
1in fiction and folk traditions: a person (especially a woman) who is credited with having usually malignant supernatural powers

: a woman who is believed to practice usually black (see BLACK entry 1 sense 7) magic often with the aid of a devil or familiar :

This is simply an unacceptable definition in 2021.

Synonyms would be; Healer, Midwife, Medicine Woman, Wise Woman, Oracle, Wizard, Sorceress, Shaman, Seers, Soothsayer, Goddess.

Haven't the healers in our society been persecuted enough? When will it end? The Maleficus Maleficarum was last distributed in 1669. Our impression of witches need not be one that conjures a negative image.

The goals of most witches are lofty and more about knowing and loving yourself, the earth, and spirit. They believe in the elements and being one with nature. They believe that everything is interconnected and that energy is at the core of all things great and small. How can that be wrong?

Mostly women but even some men have been beaten down and even burnt or drown for expressing a spirituality that is outside the church of Christ. This does not make anyone evil. It makes them and individual who is free to worship whichever deity they chose to worship.

Please help me to rectify this egregious injustice that is still taking place today.
