Overturn the XL Bully Breed Ban in Scotland

The Issue

The heartbreak of seeing innocent dogs being killed through no fault of their own is unbearable. The current 'type' legislation in Scotland has led to dogs being shot, mutilated, killed, dumped, abandoned and put to sleep. This is not only unjust but also absolutely disgusting. We are specifically concerned about the ban on XL Bully breeds which has and will resulted in many such dogs losing their lives. There are other ways of dealing with individual owners that don't take responsibility of dog ownership seriously

The breed-specific legislation (BSL) that bans certain types of dogs based on their appearance rather than behavior is fundamentally flawed. According to a report by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), BSL does not make communities safer or reduce dog bites as it fails to consider individual dog behavior and focuses only on breed or type (Source: RSPCA).

The Scottish SPCA also disagree with the ban and BSL

XL Bullies are often misunderstood and misjudged due to negative stereotypes and misinformation. In reality, they can be loyal, loving companions when raised in a responsible and caring environment.

We urge the Scottish Government to reconsider this breed ban and instead focus on promoting responsible beeeding and pet ownership which includes proper training and socialization for all breeds.

It's time we stop punishing innocent animals for human failings. Please sign this petition urging authorities to overturn the XL Bully breed ban in Scotland!
