The Issue

I've recently embarked on an exciting journey, opening a food truck right here in the heart of Springfield MA . It hasn’t been long since we started serving our delicious menu to the community, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. People in the neighbourhood truly love the convenience and the unique flair that our food truck brings. However, a new city ordinance is threatening to close us down or relocate with very little space available in the city limits

The ordinance imposes stringent restrictions on food truck locations and establishes an unnecessary buffer zone that significantly limits where we can operate. The intention may have been to regulate street food vendors, but the implications are devastating for small business owners like myself. This isn't just about losing a place to serve our food; it's about losing the ability to support our families, losing the dream we've worked so hard to build, and disconnecting from the community that we've become a part of.

Food trucks contribute to the cultural tapestry of our city. They provide jobs, bring people together, and offer affordable dining options. By enforcing these tight restrictions, we’re losing out on potential growth and economic vitality.

Instead of banning us from the best locations, the city should support food truck vendors with designated areas and fair regulations that protect us without stifling our operations. New permits and flexible zoning laws could ensure food safety and public health without driving us out of business.

We need your support to urge the city council to revisit this ordinance, to understand its impact on small business owners, and to value the vibrant community that food trucks help foster.

Please sign this petition to help save our food truck businesses and to ensure that we continue to serve and flourish in our community.
