Facts about abortion and Amendment 3:
- An Abortion Doctor in the state of Missouri makes on average $74,044 per year, or $1 (0.013%) less than the national average annual salary of $76,159. That’s $37 an hour to kill babies.
- Missouri ranks number 48 out of 50 states nationwide for Abortion Doctor salaries.
The average woman seeking an abortion is 24, classified as an age of prime time for school and careers. Hence, why they seek an abortion as it can economically impact them. - Women who have access to abortion procedures can increase their single income from $23,000 to $28,000 or family income from $48,000 to $52,000. That is an increase of $96.15 a week.
- According to Planned Parenthood, the average cost for a first trimester abortion is around $600, while the average cost for a second trimester abortion ranges from $715 to $2,000.
- The average woman who has had an abortion in Missouri already has a family.
- “The ability to plan their family the way want to is one of the most important things to a mother” according to Plan Parenthood and Women’s Institute of Policy Research.
- The top 3 towns, St. Louis, Columbia, and Kansas City, attributing to the reported 24,617 abortions from 2017-2021 were the same and only towns that said “yes” to Amendment 3 passing in the state of Missouri.
- Every 68 babies delivered in Missouri, 1 baby is aborted.
- Nationwide, an abortion happens every 60 seconds.
- A study conducted by Save The Storks came to find that 23% of Americans view abortion as an option.
- A Statistical report from Alpha Omega Center stated that 64% of women say they felt pressured into having an abortion and 84% of women who had an abortion said they were not fully informed of all their options.
Why the facts matter:
It sounds more impactful or moving to read that women are worse off, autonomously oppressed, economically set back, and at higher risk of relational endangerment from a partner if they are forced to keep their child. Meaning, they can’t have the personal rights to an abortion. It cannot and should not be legal by constitutional backing that personal rights violate one’s natural rights to life, liberty, and property. As human beings, we have the right to reproduce, babies are the result of it. No human should have the right to violate, cancel out, or dehumanize a person and their natural rights for their own personal gain of rights.
The desperate portrayed need to legalize abortion isn’t what it seems:
If this data collected across our nation and state from the Missouri Department of Health Services, Planned Parenthood, and IWPR are honest, then women are being lied to. If the issue of concern is that women will experience economic setback due to pregnancy then the answer isn’t abortion. Who or what is abortion really for? Is their agenda really for healthcare reform, women, and family planning or is it deepening and lining pockets paid with the blood of babies and to comfort women with the lie that this is their best option. The answer lies within the question, “how can we better support motherhood?” Fatherhood? The Family Unit?” The answer is real change that benefits all. The answer is evaluating what isn’t working, why it’s not working, and fix it.
What could this look like?
- Require employers in Missouri to provide maternity leave to employees through Paid Leave Policies.
- Ensure women accessibility and availability to programs like WIC, SNAP, and Medicaid.
- Employers offer a benefits package to women or families that designate pay toward daycare costs. Or a benefits package where the place of employment has a partnership with a local daycare and offers a discounted rate to single moms or lower income families.
- Equal opportunity in pay and job opportunities. If skill, experience, and dedication is matched, there should not be any reason a woman should lose a job out to a man.
According to the Institute of Women’s Policy Research, did you know the average woman in recent data reported on “The Economic Fallout of Reproductive Rights Restrictions on Women’s Future” seeking an abortion does it for the right to plan a family when and how she wants, potential economic setback, and autonomy rights. To quote IWPR, “issues of reproductive autonomy are not just tied to healthcare and freedom but also economic well-being.” They go on further to say that “there is a robust and clear line between the cause (reproductive rights) and effect (economic well-being).” IWPR also makes the point of “Access to abortion is especially important for economically vulnerable groups: denying abortion increases poverty among individuals.“ To push an agenda in clouded judgement onto women that abortion is the best choice for them to experience economic wellness is devoid of truth. If we really look at the data and research across the United States, specifically Missouri, the numbers speak for themselves. Data reported from the IWPR and National Bureau of Economic Research says a woman who has an abortion and is a single income household can increase her pay an extra $5,000 a year. The economic impact influencing a woman to have an abortion is the difference of $96.15 a week.
$96.15 a week.
