Outlaw the Use of Inhumane Glue Traps in Queensland

Outlaw the Use of Inhumane Glue Traps in Queensland
The issue
I've noticed a heartbreaking issue prevalent in our community: the widespread use of glue traps. These devices, aimed at controlling pests, bring about a slow and cruel death for trapped animals - small mammals, snakes, and birds included. Imagine the distress and suffering they go through while they struggle for their life, leading ultimately to death, mainly due to starvation and dehydration.
These traps are not only cruel and inhumane, but they also blatantly disregard our state's Animal Care and Protection Act 2001 that works to prevent animal suffering, Part Two; Section 18:
(g)kills it in a way that
(i)is inhumane; or
(ii)causes it not to die quickly; or
(iii)causes it to die in unreasonable pain;
Furthermore, according to Humane Society International, alternatives to these kinds of traps are plenty and more effective, including preventative measures such as properly handling waste, sealing openings, and humane traps.
In banning these traps, Queensland would not be the first. Victoria banned glue traps intended for rodents as early as 2008. Internationally New Zealand, Ireland and England legislated a ban on this extreme method of trapping, acknowledging their extreme cruelty.
I implore the Queensland government to follow suit, to ban the personal and commercial use of these cruel devices, and subsequently enact stricter regulations for the production and distribution of pest control devices. As compassionate citizens, we cannot turn a blind eye to such a prolonged, inhumane method of pest control.
Please, add your signature to this petition to make a stand against cruelty and in favor of humane treatment for all creatures. Let's outlaw the use of these inhumane glue traps in Queensland.
