Everyday I take a walk along the beautiful California coast. The shining sun, the sparkling ocean, and the occasional dolphin citing are magical. Unfortunately, as beautiful as those things are, their beauty is overshadowed by the abundance of discarded disposable masks all along the shore. I cannot help but imagine how many of these masks end up in our oceans, lakes, and waterways compromising our wildlife. Sadly, this reality doesn't end at the shore. Our city sidewalks, gutters, parks, etc. are also plagued with discarded masks that are carrying germs making our streets unsafe and unsanitary. Some of these masks have been known to contain asbestos which can be harmful to humans, nature, and wildlife. The distribution of disposable masks outside of medical settings must stop or our environment will not sustain. I humbly ask that you help to preserve and protect our oceans, waterways, parks, and wildlife by signing this petition and sharing with your friends.
