Ninja stars, more formally known as "shuriken," are not merely collector's items. They are dangerous weapons that are increasingly found in the possession of criminals in the city of Brighton. As a city's law enforcement officer, I can attest that we encounter hundreds of these stars every single week. Our officers routinely find them while searching individuals or their vehicles during daily investigations. Despite this, our current local laws do not explicitly outlaw the possession of throwing stars, preventing officers from taking these assassins weapons off the streets.

There is little to no practical reasoning for a civilian to carry such a potentially deadly object. The only purpose of these weapons is to inflict harm. We urge our local policymakers to acknowledge the danger these items pose to our city's residents and law enforcement. Let us adopt a law that makes the possession of ninja stars illegal in Brighton and gives our law enforcement officers the ability to remove them from our community.
