Take down "Hookup=Squirt.org" Billboard on 7th Ave and Indian School in Phoenix
The Issue
Raising children in 2019 is hard enough without having to battle against the constant barrage of sexualization that our children are exposed to. This billboard is not only offensive, but it strips away societies moral compass. It perpetuates stereotyping of the gay community by suggesting that "hookups" are a normal occurrence within the community. Children should not have to be subjected to this type of obscenity driving down the road, nor should parents have to worry about explaining the meaning of the billboard to their children. We, as a community, should be allowed to filter what our children are exposed to on some level. What is the point of web/content filters online if the same things are being advertised out in the open in public form. The billboard is counterproductive, as we are supposed to be projecting and encouraging self-love and respect to our children and ourselves, this does not send that message.
