Darren Knight, AKA The Southern Momma, has made a name for himself on YouTube. But his recent behavior on Facebook should not be ignored. In a now deleted post, Knight made statements about R Kelly’s MINOR sexual assault victims, saying that the clothing they wore proves that they “showed up looking for trouble” and that simply being in a room with men was enough for them to know what was going to happen. He ends his post with “Hilarious is an understatement.” He then goes on in a comment to claim R Kelly is the real victim.

While the post is deleted, the internet is forever and screenshots of his statements are easily found.

Excusing sexual assault on a minor in such a way shows great depravity. People like Knight should not be given a platform to spread such disgusting messages. Nashville does not need this type of performer taking the stage. Sexual assault is no laughing matter.

Nashville Comedy Festival, Outback Concerts, War Memorial Auditorium and Tennessee Performing Arts Center have the chance to send a message to Darren Knight and any other comedians who think using the exploitation of minors as fodder for their act is in any way humorous. Please remove him from the lineup immediately.
